Shruti Vinod Shrikhande, 22, and final year student of Indian Law Society (ILS) Law College, is the national topper among girls in Combined Defence Services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The final results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) written examination and interview for entry to the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, were released by the UPSC on its website upsc.gov.in.
“I am proud of my daughter. She deserves it for she has really studied very hard to realise her dream,” said Brigadier Vinod Shrikhande, Shruti’s father.
Shruti is eager to join the Short Service Commission (SSC). “It has always been my dream since I was in Army Public School, Pune, to be in Armed Forces like my father. His crisp uniform and salute are what I have dreamt of growing up. He was hardly with us as he was posted in remote areas but he always shared his experiences of those places with us,” said Shruti.
The exam was held for admission to the OTA 107th Short Service Commission course (for men) and 21st Short Service Commission women (non-technical) course, commencing in April 2018. Overall, 232 candidates have qualified in the country in the final exam, an official said. Among boys, Nipurn Datta has topped the exam.
