Pune police arrest Amazon service executive for misusing gift cards

The complaint was filed by a senior employee of the company, who is a resident of Kondhwa

The Pune police have arrested an Amazon Development Centre employee on Saturday, for misusing gift vouchers for personal gains.

The accused, has been identified as Rohan Raosaheb Nikam, 23, a resident of Wanowrie. He worked as a customer service associate, at the Amazon office in Wadgaon Sheri. Nikam had access to gift cards worth Rs 1,85,01,000 which he was supposed to distribute. Of the same, he purchased items worth Rs 31,27,072, said the police.

The complaint was filed by a senior employee of the company, who is a resident of Kondhwa. According to the complainant, the misuse of the gift cards began in July 2017.Nikam was remanded to police custody by a local court.

A case under Sections 408 and 420 of Indian Penal Code has been registered at Chandannagar police station against Nikam. Krushna Indalkar, senior police inspector of Chandannagar police station, is investigating the case.
