Pune police arrest duo for possessing 150 kg cannabis

Two men have been arrested by the Pimpri-Chinchwadi police for possession of cannabis worth Rs 35, 88,000 in Baner on Thursday.

The arrested men have been identified as Yogesh Dattatray Jodh, 28, a resident of Chandannagar, and Sagar Digambar Kadam, 28, a resident of Vimannagar.

According to a statement issued by Sriram Paul, senior police inspector of anti-narcotics cell of Pimpri-Chinchwad police crime branch, the duo were carrying 150 kg of cannabis meant for sale.

Rajan Mahadik, haValdar, anti-narcotics cell received information about a possible sale of cannabis. Based on the tip-off, the police set a trap in Baner and arrested the two men.

Paul said, “The had come in a cab and were waiting to hire an auto rickshaw. They never take private vehicles in order to avoid leaving a trail. We have been tracking their activities for a few weeks and finally arrested them.”

A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 was registered against the two.
