SPPU awards to be given on Foundation Day

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced a number of awards to commence the celebrations of its foundation day due on February 10. These awards will be distributed during the foundation day programme at the varsity.
The awards for the academic year 2017-18 include categories like the best colleges of the year, best principals, directors and teachers, and also an award for the most innovative academic performance.
Among the awards declared, the varsity’s department of management won the best educational department award. Dr DY Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, on the other hand, won the best professional college (city) award, while in rural section, Kantabai Bhanwarlal Jain College of Engineering, Chandwad, Nashik, won the title.
For the non-professional courses, Nahsik’s Karmaveer Raosaheb Thorat Arts, Bhausaheb Hiray Commerce and Annasaheb Murkute Science College was announced to have won the best college award in the city, while Annasaheb Awate College, Manchar, won the same in the rural section.
Under the category of best principal, Praveen D Chaudhari of Modern College of Pharmacy, Pimpri-Chinchwad, won the award in the vocational course institutes category in the city, while Pravin Nemade of SB Patil College of Engineering, Indapur, was declared winner of the same title in the rural section.
Further, the award for the best principal in institutes of non-professional courses was shared by Balkrishna Kamble of Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya, Karjat in Ahmednagar, and Rangnath Aher of New Arts Commerce and Science College, Parner, Ahmednagar.
According to the university statement, the best teacher award in professional course institutes will be given to Swati Jagdale of Maharashtra Institute of Pharmacy in the city section, while under the rural section, the awards went to Ramesh Sawant of Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil College of Pharmacy, Ahmednagar.
In the city section, Vasant Chabukswar from Nowrosjee Wadia College will be awarded with the best teacher award for the non-professional curriculum and Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandals Arts,Science and Commerce College’s Bharati Navthar from Rahuri village, Ahmednagar, won the same title in rural section.
Another category of award was stated to be the best innovation in education which will be bagged by Akshay Baheti from Maharashtra Institute of Pharmacy, Kothrud, in the city section and Yogesh Bhalerao, director of MIT Academy of Engineering, Alandi, in the rural section.
