The toll of swine flu deaths since January this year reached 64 on Saturday, after two more people succumbed to it. Officials informed that a 37-year-old male from Latur district and a 61-year-old female from Satara died due to swine flu, taking the death toll to 64.
The officials said that the 37-year-old was a resident of Dongargaon in Latur district and was tested positive on June 18. He died on Friday at 2:45 pm. The 61-year-old female was tested positive on June 15 and died at 1.50 am on Saturday.
According to the health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the victims were not from Pune. Statistics received show that out of the 64, 19 swine flu victims were from the city whereas 45 were from out of Pune city limits.
Officials informed that on Saturday 2,999 patients were screened out of which one patient was tested positive for H1N1. Apart from this, a total of 71 were administered with tamiflu tablets and 10 swab samples were sent for further testing. Currently, six patients are on ventilator. according to the PMC health department.
Since January 1, 4,26,158 patients have been screened for swine flu and 7,649 patients have been administered with tamiflu tablets. Swab samples of 1,347 patients were sent for testing and 321 were found to be positive. Out of these, 249 patients were discharged from the hospital and 64 died.
