Two women suffered serious burn injuries after being attacked by men in two separate incidents on Tuesday. While one of the injured woman was attacked by her husband, the other was attacked by a man who made advances at her daughter-in-law, according to the police.
Harshada Umesh Kamble (21) filed a complaint against her husband Umesh Malhari Kamble (36) after he poured diesel on her and set her ablaze in their house. The attack happened around 2 pm on Tuesday in their residence in Vrundavan Colony in Chinchawadenagar of Valhekarwadi area in Chinchwad, according to the police. After setting her ablaze, the husband locked her in the house and left, according to her complaint.
A case under Sections 498(a) (domestic violence), 307 (attempted murder) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Chinchwad police station against Umesh Kamble. Police sub-inspector RB Sodanwar of Chinchwad police station is investigating the case. The complaint in the case has been filed by the woman herself.
A few hours after the incident, at around 8:30 pm, a 30-year-old man attacked the mother-in-law of a woman towards whom he had made advances with malicious intent. The attacker, Nitin Sawant, is also a distant cousin of the woman's husband, Sandeep Sawant (37). The two had engaged in a physical fight after Nitin stopped Sandeep's wife while she was walking. On Tuesday, Nitin came to Sandeep's house in Yash Colony of Tapkirnagar area of Kalewadi, where he lives with his wife and mother. He got into a fight with Sandeep's mother, Kantabai Harichandra Sawant (58). He set a can of kerosene ablaze and attacked the 58-year-old with it, according to the police. The elder woman was grievously injured in the attack.

Assistant police inspector (API) MA Jadhav of Wakad police station is investigating the case.
Both the men are yet to be arrested.
