The incident allegedly took place in an area under the jurisdiction of Faujdar Chawadi police station of Solapur city police.

Senior police inspector S Jagtap of Faujdar Chawadi police station said, "We are verifying the contents of the video. Once we have more information and a confirmation, we will be in a better position to comment. However, we have not received any complaint in the matter yet."

When asked if the police will take suo motu action if the veracity of the video is confirmed, Jagtap said, "Yes, if it has happened here, we will take action."

Local media reports from Solapur claimed that the Vidhyarthhi Sena, a student wing of the Shiv Sena, were responsible for the attack.

Dharashivkar said, "We have nothing to do with the video or any such incident. Neither Shiv Sena, nor Vidhyarthi Sena took any such action in any part of the state."
