A 10-year-old witness to the brutal murder of his father by his mother, in connivance with her paramour, could not bottle up the truth any longer and led the local police to solve the case that had been considered a suicide till Tuesday.

Amandeep Kaur and her lover Bhinder Singh, cousin of the victim Balwinder Singh, and a resident of Malhan village, were arrested for murder after the bhog ceremony. Kaur is a resident of Kothaguru village.

Dialpura SHO Manoj Kumar said: "The woman had developed illicit relations with Bhinder Singh. Her husband, the victim, had objected to it. There had been verbal spats between the couple over the issue, several times," he said. The couple had sired a boy and a girl.

On January 20, the accused entered into a scuffle with the victim and strangulated him to death. They then hung the body with the ceiling to project it as a suicide.

The child, Bhim Singh, a student of Class-5 had witnessed the crime, but was threatened into keeping mum by his mother and her paramour.
