“The accused took him to Ladhowal, where they tied him with rope and consumed alcohol. But, the boy managed to give them a slip and fled. The boy, Saleem, a resident of Bahadur Ke Road, told police,” said Salem Tabri station house officer (SHO) Jatinder Kumar. “Police are investigating his claims.”

Kumar said, “After feeling from there, Saleem, who works at a roadside dhaba (eatery) at the vegetable market, borrowed a passerby’s mobile and called a commission agent who used to come at the dhaba. Later, commission agent Gurdeep Singh took him to the police station.”

Saleem told police that he was going to the dhaba at 5am, when a black car stopped near him.

He stated that three people came out of the car and forced him to sit inside. “When I shouted for help, the accused threatened me to keep mum,” said Saleem. “They stopped the car at an isolated place in Ladhowal and tied me with a rope. Then they began to consume alcohol. In the meantime, I managed to open knots of the rope and fled from there.”

“Saleem reached the vegetable market after out-smarting the kidnappers, and I took him to Basti Jodhewal police station to lodge an FIR. Basti Jodhewal police referred the case to Salem Tabri police station,” Singh said.

The station house officer, Jatinder Kumar, said, “Police are recording the victim’s statement and will take action accordingly.”
