More than 15 crore pages of orders and petitions etc. have been scanned, so far, at the Punjab and Haryana high court as part of initiative to make the court paperless.
An official statement from the high court suggests that scanned pages from 48.85 lakh orders and 23.55 lakh paper books had been uploaded on the high court’s document management system. High court computer committee chairman justice Hemant Gupta and committee memners justice Rajesh Bindal and justice Amit Rawal on Thursday launched an application making scanned paper book of court files available to advocates.
At this Punjab and Haryana high court Bar association function, justice Gupta also launched new initiatives to help lawyers get alerts about their cases for online file inspection. The high court issued a statement that all case files were being scanned prior to fixation before judges. These scanned pages are being used for issuing people certified copy without having to move the file physically.
The paper books of cases where the state is a party are available in offline mode within the high court premises, to the advocate general’s offices of Punjab and Haryana, besides the standing counsel of Chandigarh, the statement adds.
