180 gm heroin seized, 3 held in 2 separate cases in Ludhiana

The CIA-2 staff of police commissionerate, Ludhiana, arrested three accused in two separate cases and seized 180 gm of heroin from their possession.

In the first incident, the CIA staff arrested two scooter-borne accused at the GT Road and recovered 160 gram heroin from their possession. The accused have been identified as Surjit Singh Sita and Gurmail Singh of Sarai Man Khan village of Haveliyan.

ACP (crime) Jaswinder Singh said accused Surjit had been facing trial in several criminal cases, including attempt to murder. He had escaped from the police custody after firing on a police team at Kartarpur last year.

The accused was also declared offender by court. The ACP said the accused had told the police that he, along with his accomplice, brought heroin from border districts and sold it to the addicts.

In another case, CIA arrested Pankaj Kumar, alias Tinku, from Bajra village and recovered 20 gram, heroine from his possession.

The ACP said the accused was on his way to sell heroin on his scooter when the police arrested him. Two separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) have been registered in this context.
