20-year-old a hosiery unit employee'gangraped', two booked

A 20-year-old woman accused a hosiery unit employee and his accomplice of raping her in his office on Sunday. The victim claimed that the accused confined her to his office room in Jamalpur and also threatened her to keep mum.

A 20-year-old woman accused a hosiery unit employee and his accomplice of raping her in his office on Sunday. The victim claimed that the accused confined her to his office room in Jamalpur and also threatened her to keep mum.


The victim narrated the whole incident to her mother and then the police were informed to lodge an FIR against the accused. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh alias Raju of sector 32, Chandigarh road, and Happy, a resident of LIG flats.

The victim stated that her mother used to supply woollens to the hosiery factory. On Sunday, the accused telephoned her to seek the supply of woollens at his Jamalpur office.

According to the victim, as she entered the office, the accused bolted the door from inside and then the crime took place. When she raised an alarm, the accused fled after allegedly threatening her not to inform anyone.

Sub-inspector (SI) Swarn Singh of Jamalpur police station said that a case was registered under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) 342 (wrongful confinement) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused. The police have launched a manhunt for their arrest.
