The accused have been identified as Sachin of Satnam Nagar, Mandeep Singh of Mithu Basti, Sukhdev Singh of Basti Peer Daad in the city.

In a press conference, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP–I) J Elanchezhian along with assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (North) Amneet Kondal said the accused had purchased the car and bike from the looted money.

Earlier, a case under section 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against unidentified persons. Following technical investigation, the police managed to arrest the accused, the ADCP said.

On December 10, Manoj Kumar, the complainant who works as an assistant manager with an export firm at Suranassi, told the police that he along with another employee Surinder Kumar had gone to withdraw Rs 9 lakh from Canara Bank near BMC Chowk. They were on the bike (PB08-BE-0573). Kumar said when they were coming back to the factory, three bike-borne persons attacked them with sharp-edged weapons and robbed them of the bag that contained money.

The ADCP said that Kumar had conspired to loot the money as he had information about the cash being brought by Manoj and Surinder on the bike.

The accused would be produced in a local court on Thursday.
