The accused have been identified as Sanjiv Kumar Sood of Anand Nagar, his brother Vinit Sood and their friend Harvinder Pal Singh of Jamalpur colony.

The commissionarate sleuths apprehended the accused from house of Sanjiv Kumar at Anand Nagar. The trio was accepting betting amounts in the limits of police station division number 4 from punters over cell phone for the match played between Australia and West Indies.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, inspector in charge CIA staff, Harpal Singh Grewal, said the police had raided the hide-out on late night Saturday, following a tip-off. The inspector said that the accused had finished the bets on the match played between Sri Lanka and South Africa and had collected the cash that had been recovered from the house and were accepting bets for the next match.

"The police have been investigating the matter thoroughly and more arrests are expected. We have also launched an investigation into whether the mobile phones used were identified in their name or were procured on fake identity," he added.
