3 days after father’s death, autorickshaw driver murdered in Chandigarh

Udayveer’s younger brother, Vijay Kumar, said Satnam from Behlana village near the Chandigarh airport nursed a grudge.

Three days after his father’s death, an autorickshaw driver from Uttar Pradesh, Udayveer Singh, 35, was murdered in the Ram Darbar locality in Industrial Area Phase 2, Chandigarh, on Wednesday morning.

Police said Satnam Kumar, 31, hit Udayveer on the head with a sledge hammer and pushed him off the roof.

Udayveer’s younger brother, Vijay Kumar, said Satnam from Behlana village near the Chandigarh airport nursed a grudge.

Police sources said Satnam was a friend of Udayveer’s wife, Priya, 30.

The family rushed Udayveer to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 but he died on the way.

A case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. This was the second tragedy in the family since June 10 when Udayveer father, Chandel Singh, passed away.
