The charges against the accused, including Reema's brother-in-law Anil Jain, alias Micky Jain, Jasvir Singh, alias Neelu, of Narangwal Kalan village, Dehlon, Kuldeep Singh of Mandiani village, Mullanpur Dakha, and Tarsem Singh, alias Bonni of Kotman village, Sidhwan Bet, were framed on November 26.

Soon after the judgment, the police beefed up security at the house of Reema's family.

Expressing satisfaction over the ruling, Bhanu Pratap Jain, son of the victim and the complainant in the case, said the four had killed her mother brutally and destroyed the body and other clues. He said that preferably, the culprits should have been executed.

Reema was kidnapped and murdered in July 2005. The Jagraon police claimed to have solved the murder seven months later. A special team of the Jagraon police had recovered parts of the highly decomposed body from the premises of Micky's factory.

Micky was earlier acquitted in the murder case of his brother (Reema's husband). The police had claimed that an undertrial, Makhan Singh, was witness to the deal. Makhan Singh was shot at by four unidentified persons near Aliwal village in November 2005.
