Two unidentified men snatched a Maruti-Suzuki Brezza car belonging to a woman constable at gunpoint from outside a local restaurant on Monday night, barely hours after the family bought the vehicle.
The city police recovered the car near a petrol pump on Talwandi road on Tuesday afternoon. Police officials, however, denied this.
Renu Galhotra, who is posted with the technical branch of the Faridkot police, had bought the car four hours before the incident which took place outside Shahi Haveli restaurant on Kotkapura Road around 10pm.
The incident was captured in a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed outside the restaurant.
“After buying the car we went to pay obeisance at a temple. Later, I along with my wife and children went for dinner. We came out at 10pm. While my wife was with our relatives, I along with my son went to get the car where it was parked,” said Rajesh Sethi, Renu’s husband.
“As I started the car, my son sat next to me. Two men suddenly came near and asked us to move out quietly. Initially, I resisted but one of them pointed a pistol at me. I had no option but to comply,” Sethi said.

{{/usCountry}}In the CCTV footage, the robbers are seen sitting in another car. The two come out of the vehicle and are seen walking towards the Brezza which they took away in a minute.
After getting information, the police immediately reached the spot. A case under section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Faridkot (city) police station.
