A day after the violent clash between cops and supporters of Bapu Surat Singh in Ajnala, the town remained peaceful and the Amritsar (rural) Police claimed to have arrested six persons related to clash.
Although no incident of violence took place in Ajnala on Monday but on alert, the cops ensured enough deployment to tackle any sort of situation.
Confirming this to HT, SSP Amritsar (rural) Jasdeep Singh said, "After registering a case on Sunday, we have formally arrested six persons including few radicals."
The SSP said that a high vigil was maintained in the Ajnala area to ensure that no untoward incident takes place again.Notably, DSP Ajnala Tilak Raj had received head injuries after a clash erupted between the cops and the supporters of Bapu Surat Singh on Sunday.
As the supporters wanted to go ahead to Akal Takht in the shape of a protest March, the cops stopped them from doing this. After argument things took a heated turn and police had to use mild force to scatter the agitators.
Soon, things went uglier when stone pelting started and one of the stones hit the DSP Ajnala, who was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Notably, the Amritsar (rural) Police had registered a case against 18 persons after the clash.
