A day after Satnam Kainth resigned as the in-charge of the Adampur assembly segment following serious
differences with Congress candidate Santokh Chaudhary and his family, the party on Saturday tried to win over the disgruntled leader from Adampur.
Kainth is learnt to have developed differences with Santokh’s son Vikram Chaudhary, who also happens to be the state youth Congress president.
On Saturday, Kainth took a U-turn and said all “minor issues” had been resolved. Kainth, a former BSP MP who unsuccessfully contested the last assembly election against SAD candiate Tinu, on Friday had written an e-mail to All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Sonia Gandhi and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Partap Bajwa to relieve him from the duty of in-charge for Adampur citing “unfair behavior” of the Chaudhary family.
“Writing an e-mail to party leaders is not a big issue. All I have to say now is that all misconceptions between the Chaudhary family and me have been sorted out. I appeal to all party workers to work hard to ensure the Congress candidate’s victory from Jalandhar,” Kainth said in a press conference attended by Santokh at the latter’s residence here.
Santokh said Kainth would continue to work as the party in-charge from Adampur and it was only the media that blew the issue out of proportion.

{{/usCountry}}Though Kainth extended his support to Chaudhary’s candidature, he failed to clarify the reason behind his resignation as in-charge of the Adampur assembly segment.
Sources said Kainth was upset with the direct involvement of the Chaudhary family in Adampur as he was not invited to the meeting of all the nine constituencies’ in-charges under the Jalandhar parliamentary constituency, a day after Santokh was declared the Congress nominee.
