The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will get a Delhi-like mammoth mandate in the next assembly elections in Punjab, party's state observer Sanjay Singh said at a rally on Saturday here on the conclusion of the 'Beimaan Bhajao, Punjab Bachao' Yatra against corruption.
He said that the campaign that had started from Amritsar on May 15 had received a huge support from the masses in the state, which he said was "a clear sign that that the AAP will win majority of the seats in the 2017 assembly elections". "Sand, land, and drug mafia rule the state with patronage of the ruling-party leaders," Sanjay Singh alleged. AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said it was "jungle raj".
He also said that the state executive of the party, besides its youth, student, and women's wings, would be formed in another four months. The party, he said, planned to contest all 117 assembly seats, and would name its candidates six months before the elections.
AAP's Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann; Delhi parliamentary secretary Alka Lamba; leader Jassi Jasraj; and Rupnagar district in-charge Gurmail Singh Bara also spoke on the occasion. They also addressed a public meeting at Rupnagar.
Meanwhile, former Congress legislator Rana KP Singh termed the AAP event at Anandpur Sahib "a flop show". "Most of the people in the gathering were outsiders, a sign that the APP has no future in the state," he said.
