Within days of his joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sukhpal Khaira has received an advisory from the party about not wasting money on projecting his joining the party by issuing advertisements in the papers.

In Monday’s papers, a few NRI supporters of Khaira had issued advertisements about his entry to the party as a big achievement for the AAP.

Addressing a press conference here, AAP convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said, “We don’t recommend wastage of money on issuing such advertisements. It’s against the AAP ideology as we all work as volunteers. I think Khaira has not issued these advertisements and they were issued by his NRI supporters. But in future, they must take care. I will speak to Khaira.” He said instead of wasting money, NRIs could donate that to the party fund.

AAP leaders Chhotepur and organisational in-charge Durgesh Pathak were here to attend a party meeting held to mobilise people for the January 14 Maghi rally of the party in Muktsar which Kejriwal will address. The AAP convener said the rally would be the biggest ever in Punjab and a few more big names would join the party there.

He said the party was ready for polls at any time. “The state is already in poll mode though it is still more than a year to go. It’s better to get rid of the Badals as soon as possible. If the Badals think the early polls can save them, they are mistaken,” said Chhotepur.
