Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders have simply stopped going for any public functions due to the ire of the general public, AAP’s Punjab unit convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said.

The state government was in such a pitiable condition that it had lost the faith of public to such an extent that ‘Punjab Day’ could not be celebrated due to apprehensions of facing the wrath of the public, he added.

Further attacking Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President and state Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Chottepur said it showed the corrupt mind set of the Akali leadership when the Badal duo openly supported a party as corrupt as the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), in Haryana.

“Badals had always protected their personal business interests, rather than the interests of the state,” he alleged.Saying that the younger (Sukhbir) Badal’s attendance t the INLD function held at Rohtak on Sunday highlighted the “double standards” of the duo (sukhbir and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal), where in Punjab, they were in an alliance with the BJP and in Haryana, they were with the INLD.

Hailing Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision of distributing cheques to the riot affected, Chottepur said, that the AAP had done for the Sikh community, what even the so called Panthic SAD could not do.

He further asked the Congress High Command to clarify their party’s stand on the 1984 riots and what the Congress had done to redress the grievances of the victims.

Punjab government yesterday failed to organise a state-level function to mark its 49th formation day, whereasDeputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal attended a rally at Rohtak in Haryana organised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) to mark Haryana Day.
