Sahil went to attend a party at an Abohar bar on the June-14 night but did not return home. The next morning, one of his friends said Sahil was lying unconscious at his house, said Baldev Raj Chawla, Sahil's father.

Sahil was rushed to the local civil hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The post-mortem of the deceased was held and the viscera were sent for examination.

His friends alleged that Sahil was used to taking drugs and that night also he took an overdose of drugs, after which his condition worsened, said Chawla, adding that they had demanded a probe into the "murder", but to no avail.

The viscera report, which was out recently, said Sahil had died due to poison in his body. Chawla alleged that they had given the names of the suspects to the police, but so far the police had not initiated action, apparently under pressure from the suspects, who hailed from influential families.

DIG Paramraj Singh Umranangal dismissed the allegations of the police not acting under pressure from the suspects as baseless and claimed that he was monitoring the probe and soon they would crack the case.
