Absent from duty 148 Punjab teachers get notice

Director general school education, Punjab, Kahan Singh Pannu today issued show-cause notices to 148 teachers of government schools, Punjab, for remaining absent from duty. These teachers have been absent from the duty since 1992.

Director general school education, Punjab, Kahan Singh Pannu Saturday issued show-cause notices to 148 teachers of government schools, Punjab, for remaining absent from duty. These teachers have been absent from the duty since 1992.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Kahan Singh Pannu, said: "Almost all the 148 teachers were on unauthorised leave and gone abroad and no prior information about their absence was given to the school."

Pannu said disciplinary action would be taken against the erring teachers.

Anoop Kumar Passi, principal, Government Senior Secondary School, Isewal, said: "These posts must be filled immediately.”

Absentee teachers from 22 districts of Punjab

From Ludhiana district -48, Gurdaspur-12, Amritsar-11, Moga- 11, Hoshiarpur-9, Patiala-7, Bathinda- 6, Faridkot-6, Muktsar Sahib-5, Ferozepur-4, Fazilka-4, Jalandhar-4,Mansa-3, Ajitgarh-3, Roopnagar-3, Barnala-2, Fatehgarh Sahib-2, Pathankot-2, SBS Nagar-2, Kapurthala-2, Sangrur-1 and Tarn Taran-1.
