Even as the Moga incident has forced deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to suspend the bus service of his Orbit company until staff re-orientation, one of his ministers is for keeping all air-conditioned private coaches on road.

Apparently to appease the ruling family that owns the Orbit fleet, rural development and panchayat minister Sikander Singh Maluka made a statement on Sunday here after discussing the issue with party workers that AC buses made long journeys comfortable and eased traffic congestion. He didn't mention any particular transport company but the context was clear.

In the Moga molestation and murder case, a girl and her mother had been thrown off a moving Orbit bus. Maluka said the death of a girl shouldn't be politicised, especially when the accused had been booked and arrested.
