"As the stray dogs bark on the miscreants, they pour acid to kill them," said the residents. After Ludhiana acid attack in December last year, the police and district administration had put a ban on open sale of acid. But as the time passed, the sale of acid is again rampant in the city. This time the miscreants used it against the stray dogs that are the biggest hurdles for them in executing burglaries.

Former president of Pakshi Sewa Samiti Vipan Bhatia said, "We are providing treatment to the injured dogs. The district administration had formed a body to prevent cruelty against animals last year, but it exists only on the papers. No one has come forward for treatment of the injured dogs." "I have noticed some intruders prowling in the area, but the dogs used to bark on seeing them, thereby alerting the area residents," he added.
