The family demanded capital punishment for attackers and implicating the groom's family in the case.
Various leaders and industrialists, who had offered help to the family, were conspicuous by their absence. No one from the groom's family attended the cremation.

Deputy commissioner Gurloveleen Singh Sidhu said, "Commensurate with his qualification, the victim's brother will be given the job of a sewadar at the suwidha centre."

Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa announced Rs 5 lakh for the family.

Sidhu said that as demanded by the family, their meeting with the Ludhiana police commissioner had been arranged for Sunday.

Regarding the easy access of acid in the market, SSP Opinderjit Singh Ghuman said, "Battery dealers and other traders dealing in acid have been told to keep a proper record of their stock and to report the matter to police immediately if a suspicious person demands acid."

Gagan Kaur, a friend of the victim, said, "Such cases linger on for years, even decades and get weakened. These should be solved through fast-track courts. Strict message should be sent out by taking stern action against acid attackers so that no one even thinks of such an inhuman act."
