However, police denied the attempted suicide by the undertrial, stating that he was trying to run off from the police custody, but apprehended.

The accused, Raghuvir Singh, who has been facing trial in a case under the NDPS Act, was on bail.

However, when a local court rejected his petition for the extension of the bail, the accused ran away from the custody of police and climbed the second floor of the judicial complex and jumped off allegedly to commit suicide.

SHO at the Civil Lines police station inspector Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa denied the charge that the accused had attempted suicide.

"The accused did not attempt suicide by jumping off the judicial complex. Rather he attempted to abscond after the rejection of his bail plea, but apprehended,"the SHO said.
