After denying police job, Moga DC says martyr’s brother asked for clerk’s job

Soldier’s brother Kuldeep, however, denies this and says he wanted job in police; DC had earlier offered him peon’s job

Having courted controversy by offering a peon’s job to martyr Jaspreet Singh’s brother, Moga deputy commissioner (DC) Moga Dilraj Singh on Wednesday claimed that Kuldeep Singh had asked for a clerk’s job, for which eligibility is graduation.

The clarification came a day after HT had published the report, ‘Despite CM’s assurance, DC denies police job to Moga martyr’s brother.’

Sepoy Jaspreet was killed in shelling by Pakistani forces in Nowshera sector of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on July 18 this year.

However, Kuldeep, 23, who has passed Class 12, has denied having asked for clerk’s job from DC. “I never asked for clerk’s job. When the government offered me a police job, why should I ask for clerk’s job. My parents also wanted that I should get a job in police,” he said.

Talking to HT on Sunday, the DC had said that one needs to be graduate to get a job in police or a clerk’s job, so he can give Kuldeep only peon’s job.

In a clarification on Wednesday, the DC said, “Kuldeep has made a personal appearance before DC and exhibited interest in being appointed to the post of clerk in the civil administration. Concerning this, the DC told him that the eligibility for the post of Clerk is graduation and if he is interested in a job at the civil administration then he can be appointed as “Sewadar” (Peon) or as a constable in the police for which the eligibility is 12th standard.”
