One of the first promises that he is expected to keep, besides improving the infrastructure is making the Pathankot airport operational again. He had been instrumental in getting the project to the city, but faltered out later, after aviation companies cited little profit in running operations and refused to run the facility.

He is also expected to bring the area on the tourism map, a issue that he had raised during campaigning.

He had promised to develop the large lake of the Ranjit Sagar Dam, which has a huge potential due to the scenic beauty in the area. Another challenge he is likely to find far more difficult is to tame the drug abuse in the border area.

“He has been successful in getting several projects to the region which led to increased connectivity, but we want the unfinished projects to be taken up on priority. He must ensure that pending projects are cleared within time,” said Rajesh Pushkarna, a resident of Sujanpur.
He added that with Jammu Airport expected to undergo some renovation, the MP should work to restart the airport now so that a market for it develops, he added.
