She ‘resigned’ from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) two days ago on Facebook, and now she has announced her comeback too via the social media site — thus continues the sulk-fest of Amritsar-East MLA and chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu.

Her latest Facebook post talks of interventions by BJP’s national organisational secretary Ram Lal, besides her husband, cricketer-politician and three-time former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu as being behind her return.

On Friday (also, April Fools’ Day), she had posted on FB, “Finally, I have resigned from BJP. The burden is over”; and followed up with a post on how the Amritsar Improvement Trust had not opened tenders of Rs 79 crore worth of development works in her constituency. She had accused chief minister Parkash Singh Badal of making false promises, though she did not talk to the media.

Sources said she had been in Delhi ever since her Friday ‘resignation’ post, and her husband accompanied her in the meeting with Ram Lal. Meanwhile, there was no word from the BJP leadership even as the party’s state unit chief, Kamal Sharma, had maintained that he never received any resignation from her anyway.

The Sidhus have been vocal against the BJP’s ruling partner SAD, even expressly against CM Badal and his son and deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal. Not long ago, she had given loud hints of gravitating towards the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) “if the BJP stayed on with the SAD”.
