All govt schools to have music, physical training teacher'

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh, who on Thursday embarked a week-long second leg of his winter sojourn to Kangra, said that the government will ensure that every state-run school has one music and once physical training teacher.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh, who on Thursday embarked a week-long second leg of his winter sojourn to Kangra, said that the government will ensure that every state-run school has one music and once physical training teacher.


He was addressing a facilitation programme organised to honour the meritorious students on the campus of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) at Dharamsala.

“To begin with, the state government has already decided to introduce Hindi, English and mathematics subjects' from the first Class 1 in government schools,” said Virbhadra, adding that the state-run schools will also have separate girls, boys and the teachers toilets to maintain the cleanliness.

Himachal Pradesh had made rapid progress in the field of education, Virbhadra said and the main focus of the government was to open new school in rural and far-flung areas with a special motive to provide education to girl child at their door-steps.

HPSEB chairman Balbir Tegta detailed about the various activities of the board and the achievements during the recent past.

Foundation stone of Press Club Building laid

Soon after reaching Dharamsala in the morning, chief minister laid foundation stone of new press club building to be constructed at a cost of `1.43 crore.

He also ensured that his government will take all possible steps for welfare of journalist fraternity in Himachal.

The chief minister was accompanied by transport minister GS Bali, forest minister TS Bharmouri, urban development minister Sudhir Sharma and other MLAs and Congress leaders from Kangra.
