Tarsem, in-charge of the Attari (reserve) constituency, resigned from the PPCC executive by sending his resignation to PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa by fax.

His reason behind is quitting is said to be in protest against the inclusion of those persons in the PPCC who had allegedly worked against the party's official candidates in the last assembly polls.

"The Akali stooges have been included in the PPCC and this is bad for the party which will weaken it," he said while talking to the media here.

Tarsem's grievances were in particular against the inclusion of former minister Sukhdev Singh Shahbazpuri into the working committee of the PPCC. He alleged that Shahbazpuri had worked against the party and was responsible for his defeat in the 2012 polls from the Attari (reserve) segment.

"After the assembly polls, I had written to the party high command to register my protest against Soni. Despite this, Soni was made the PPCC vice-president and in-charge of Majha," he added.
When contacted, Soni refuted Tarsem's claims.
