Amritsar’s Heritage Street to have ‘chhabeels’, says SGPC

In an attempt to ensure that pilgrims who approach the Golden Temple through the newly-constructed Heritage Street get drinking water, the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to set up two ‘Chhabeels’ on the stretch.

SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar laid the foundation stone of two chhabeel stalls on Friday.

Badungar also laid the foundation stone of a multi-storey car parking at Ram Talai area. He said the project is initiated keeping in mind the increasing rush at the holy shrine.

Capt must remove speaker: Badungar

Criticising the role of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh, the SGPC chief said all happened in the presence of CM Amarinder Singh and now it was his responsibility to remove the Speaker.

He also condemned the tossing of turbans and manhandling of women in the incident.
