Even as the Moga case continues to reverbate across the state, a similar case of molestation of a woman aboard a moving private bus surfaced in Khanna on Sunday. What makes the case even worse is that the bus did not stop after being signaled to stop by the police at a check-point and could finally only be apprehended after a chase.

Police have impounded the private bus belonging to Rajdeep Bus Company and registered a case against the driver, the conductor and the unidentified accused, who actually molested a 30-year-old, who had boarded the bus from Sirhind and was to go to Sahenwal. All accused are absconding.
In her complaint, the woman claimed that a man clad in a white kurta pyjama sat next to her in the bus and started touching her inappropriately. On protest, the man shifted to a seat behind her, but continued to pass lewd comments. "Complaints to the conductor made little difference. I then called up my husband, who informed the police," she states in her complaint.
The police then set up a naka near the Bija Chowk and force from three police stations - Doraha, Payal and Kot - was deputed at the checkpoint.
However, the bus did not stop at the signal and it was only after a chase that it stopped. However, the driver, conductor and the alleged molester fled from the spot. The victim was taken to the civil hospital for medical examination.
