He said the patent office, government of India, had granted patent to this method developed by Beena Kumari, senior residue chemist in the department of entomology and her co-workers, Shashi Singh, Jagdeep Singh and TS Kathpal.

Khokhar said the pesticide residue in environmental components and food commodities in the present scenario of agriculture was a serious global problem and threat.

He said the objective of the invention was to develop simple multi-residue analytical techniques for the estimation of residues of pesticides, including organochlorines, organophosphate, pyrethroids and carbamates, simultaneously in milk and milk products, which were lacking so far.

The V-C added that the method for estimation of multi-residue in milk and milk products that got a patent was not only a simple, sensitive and quick but also a cost-effective process. He said another advantage of this method was that it used less quantity of solvents than the previously-used methods. It would be very useful for dairy industry and dairy businessmen, he added.
