Another PSPCL employee in dock for accepting bribe

Four days after a Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) clerk was arrested in a graft case, the economic offence wing of Vigilance Bureaur nabbed a junior engineer (JE) of the corporation red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on Friday.

Four days after a Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) clerk was arrested in a graft case, the economic offence wing of Vigilance Bureaur nabbed a junior engineer (JE) of the corporation red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Randhir Singh, posted at power sub-station Pohir at Ahmedgarh.

In his complaint, Iqbal Singh, a resident of Lohgarh village, alleged that JE Randhir Singh was demanding Rs 10,000 from him for new power connection at his workshop at Dhurkot village.

Sandeep Goel, SP, economic offence wing of Ludhiana police commissionerate, said he formed a team of vigilance officers for action after receiving the complaint. As the accused accepted the bribe, the vigilance team raided and arrested the accused red-handed and recovered cash from his possession.

A case has been registered against the accused under section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Goel said the vigilance bureau would produce the accused in court on Saturday.
