Pooh-poohing the AAP’s farmer manifesto, he said the AAP leaders, mostly outsiders, were totally ignorant of the cultural ethos and values of Punjab and Kejriwal won’t be able to differentiate between basmati and rice crops, said Sukhbir after inaugurating two sewa kendars, one in Ferozepur and another in his assembly segment Jalalabad of Fazilka district on Sunday.

Sukhbir said Punjab had become the model state in terms of providing hassle-free services in rural areas. “We want to lift the living standard of the masses and provide them facilities on a par with the developed countries,” he said.

“Apart from making Punjab a power surplus state, the road network has also been strengthened. In October, free medicine and skill centres will be made operational. Every year nearly 1-lakh youth will be imparted training to enhance their employability,” he said.

“Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are deliberately defaming Punjab on the drugs issue whereas the dope tests conducted during the police recruitment drive belied the accusations. Of the 6-lakh youth tested for dope, only 2,000 were found positive,” he said.
