Victim Jagdev Singh and his family had a dispute with Shagandeep Singh over the use of loudspeaker in their neighbourhood.

Victim’s wife Jaswinder Kaur alleged that she and her three daughters were manhandled by Shagandeep and his accomplice during a function in their village on Tuesday.

“On Thursday, Shagandeep and his accomplices attacked us inflicting a deep injury on my husband’s eye,” alleged Jaswinder, who is admitted to the civil hospital at Mansa.

Her husband Jagdev Singh has been referred to PGI in Chandigarh.

However, station house officer (SHO) Jarnail Singh refuted the allegations levelled by the Dalit family and said the latter had first assaulted Shagandeep and in the ensuing clash, people from both sides were injured.

“We have got video evidence wherein Jaswinder Kaur is caught throwing stones at Shagandeep Singh. We have recorded her statement and registered a case against Shagandeep and his accomplice,” he said.
