Agitated over not getting salaries for last six months, the employees of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board staged a protest rally outside the office of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) on Wednesday.

Agitated over not getting salaries for last six months, the employees of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board staged a protest rally outside the office of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) on Wednesday.

These 23 employees are working at the colonies under the LIT.

During the rally, the protesters in collaboration with the Punjab Field and Workshop Workers’ Union, Ludhiana, also blocked the gate of the office, causing inconvenience to visitors.

The protesting employees, who had held a hunger strike last week, raised slogans against the authorities and government for not issuing their salaries.

Addressing the gathering, Harpreet Singh Grewal, president of the Punjab Field and Workshop Workers’ Union, Ludhiana, said would continue the protest until the authorities fulfilled their demand. He said employees were undergoing a lot of harassment in absence of salaries.

Satish Thaman, member of District Ludhiana West Sub-Division Grievances Redressal Committee, assured the employees of raising their issue again with higher authorities.
