Residents of Phullanwal village are at their wits’ end over lack of basic civic amenities in their locality. The area lacks streetlights, good roads and a proper sewage system since last several years.

Roads in the village are broken since the last three years and several accidents take place due to this, say residents. Even pedestrians cannot walk on these uneven roads. There are no streetlights in the village. After sunset, the roads are engulfed in darkness.

Residents have requested the authorities to ensure better civic amenities in the village, but to no avail. Moreover, absence of streetlights has also resulted in rise in number of theft cases, say the residents. “Miscreants take advantage of dark and pose a threat to lives of the village residents. To be on the safe side, we avoid venturing out after nightfall as much as possible,” residents add.

Two years back, residents themselves tried to install a sewage lane in the village, but the process of installation failed. When it rains, the area gets inundated for several days owing to the lack of sewage system, due to which mosquitoes and insects breed there and the residents are exposed to serious health risks.
