Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, would establish the college and initiate short-term courses.

A decision to this effect was taken by Badal during a meeting with senior officers of the animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries department.

Emphasising the need to strengthen veterinary education as well as generating more employment opportunities for the youth, especially in the rural sector, Badal asked the GADVASU vice-chancellor to prepare a plan to initiate short-term diploma courses for the new college, besides the regular degree course of bachelor of veterinary science (BVSc).
