Extending support to the Bains brothers - MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains - and their supporters jailed twice for staging protest in the district, members of their 'Team Insaaf' on Saturday accused the police of behaving in a biased manner.

"It seems that the law is not equal to all in the city. The police have arrested independent MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains and their supporters twice for staging the protests, while the police have overlooked demonstrations by other political parties and organisations at public places and no action was taken against them," said the 'Team Insaaf' members.

The 'Team Insaaf' members have submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner on Saturday against the action against the Bains brothers and supporters.

Jaswinder Singh Raja, a supporter of the Bains brothers said, they were protesting peacefully on April 11, when the police arrested them after imposing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). On Friday, when they were protesting against sand mafia in the city, the police had treated them like hardcore criminals and entire force was deployed to arrest them.
