After garnering support from Bathinda, Tuesday’s Parivartan rally will be a litmus test for former state convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sucha Singh Chhotepur.
After Chhotepur’s expulsion, two of the main office bearers of Bathinda’s AAP unit — Narinderpal Bhagta, Bathinda zonal coordinator and Harmilap Singh Grewal, RTI wing state general secretary resigned from their respective posts.
After mammoth gathering by the AAP at Baghapurana, organisers of Chhotepur’s rally have started worrying about bringing people to rally venue to show off their strength.

Though they claimed that not many people from Bathinda parliamentary constituency went to attend AAP’s Baghapurana rally, but newly appointed coordinator, Deepak Bansal, claimed that more than 15,000 people were ferried to AAP rally from Bathinda constituency.
The Parivartan rally organisers held meeting on Monday to take stock of mobilisation done by their volunteers in villages in the past days.
“Many AAP volunteers and workers, who stood with the AAP in thick and thin, will attend Chhotepur’s rally. The office bearers across zone, who resigned after Chhotepur’s ouster, will bring people from their respective areas,” Bhagta said.
He added that though AAP is yet to declare candidate from Bathinda urban constituency, the senior leaders and workers, willing to join Chhotepur’s initiative are hesitating so as to remain in good books of senior AAP leaders. Meanwhile, Harmilap Singh Grewal, former RTI wing state general secretary, said the response to AAP’s Sunday rally will not affect Chhotepur’s event.

“Chhotepur’s rally will have zero affect on the morale of mainstream AAP leaders and workers. Moreover, after Sunday’s show of strength, Chhotepur and his team should not keep any doubt about AAP’s wave across the state,” said Bansal.
