The team also inspected places in the Nihal Singh Wala subdivision. "The raids were for implementing the Food Safety Act," said deputy commissioner Arshdeep Singh Thind. "The operation was based on secret information."

The raids began at 7am on Tuesday. "Adulterated milk has become a big problem in villages," said the DC. "The additional deputy commissioner led the raids on Bahadur, Punit, and Raja dairies. The team seized eight bottles of an adulterant chemical from Bahadur Dairy. It appears to be pink calcium, but we'll wait for the analysis report."

"The adulterated milk products had reached sweetshops in rural areas," said ADC Joram Beda. "It's becoming a menace." "Synthetic milk was being sold to consumers," said district health officer Dr Ravinder Kumar Verma. "The raids will continue."
