Though the SAD and BJP have reached a consensus on the candidates in Kotkapura block, the leaders of the two parties failed to reach a consensus in Faridkot block, which has 25 seats of block samiti.

At Golewala, Bohar Singh of the BJP is contesting against Labh Singh of the SAD, while Sukhdev Singh of the Congress has reached an alleged understanding with the SAD candidate.

>A Golewal resident said, "All three candidates belong to our village. Bohar Singh of the BJP is giving a tough fight to SAD candidate Labh Singh. Earlier, it was assumed that an alleged understanding with the Congress candidate would benefit the SAD, but now the situation seems to have changed. The voters seem to have tilted towards the BJP."

Parveen Gupta, district president of the BJP, said, "We had received about 25 applications for the block samiti elections from Faridkot block and had shortlisted 13. After discussing the matter with Faridkot MLA Deep Malhotra, we came down to only four seats for the BJP. But no consensus could be reached upon the Faridkot block, so we are contesting on three seats."

Faridkot MLA Deep Malhotra and Kotkapura MLA Mantar Singh Brar could not be contacted for comment.
