The BJP complained to deputy commissioner Rohan Thakur, who is also the returning officer for the Hamirpur seat, that the Congress leader had held a press conference at the local circuit house after the code was enforced, and demanded “strong punitive action” against him.

Under the code of conduct, no such press conferences can be held in government premises.

The DC said he had received the complaint and sent it to the sub-divisional magistrate for verification.

In spite of repeated attempts, Sukhoo was not available for comments.
