Bodies of 2 school-going youths found on railway track

Bodies of two school-going youths were recovered from railway tracks near Kakkarwal village of Dhuri sub-division of the district on Wednesday morning. In the preliminary investigation, police suspect a suicide and the bodies have been sent for postmortem.

Bodies of two school-going youths were recovered from railway tracks near Kakkarwal village of Dhuri sub-division of the district on Wednesday morning. In the preliminary investigation, police suspect a suicide and the bodies have been sent for postmortem.

The deceased have been identified as Amandeep Singh (17) and Amritpal Singh (18), both resident of nearby Rangia village and students of Classes 11 and 12 of the government senior secondary school, Jhaloor, respectively.

SI Kuldeep Chand, incharge of government railway police, Dhuri, said "Around 7.15am on Wednesday, gateman Upendra Singh informed the GRP that bodies of two youths were lying on the railway track near Kakkarwal village."

He said, "A few hours later, parents of the boys contacted the GRP and identified the bodies which were sent for postmortem," he said, adding that the timing of the death could be ascertained only after the postmortem report.

The parents of the boys told the police that they went to school on November 10 but did not return.
