In a fresh twist to the Inderpreet Singh Chadha suicide case, a forensic lab report has failed to ascertain whether the bullet that killed Chadha was fired from his revolver or not.
As the bullet is badly deformed, it is difficult to match it with the rest of the cartridges recovered from the revolver, says the report that was submitted by the police in Amritsar court on Friday.
Inderpreet, son of former Chief Khalsa Diwan president Charanjit Singh Chadha, allegedly shot himself on January 3 this year as he was reportedly upset over the controversy that had erupted after the surfacing of a video showing his father in an objectionable position with a woman principal.
After the incident, a team of forensic experts took the revolver and cartridges for ballistics examination.
They also took four swabs on paper tapes from both hands of the deceased.
The examination of samples at the CFSL in Chandigarh revealed that there were no firing discharge residues on the swabs, Chadha’s lawyer Anandeshwar Gautam told HT while quoting the report. “The report clearly says it was not possible to form any definite opinion regarding the presence of the firing discharge residues on paper tapes after chemical examination,” he said.
