A pregnant woman was killed and five others were injured after being attacked by burglars late on Tuesday night at their house in Manakwal village near Malerkotla. The victim has been identified as Kaato (28).

Superintendent of police Paramjit Singh Goraya said unidentified miscreants barged into a house around midnight and attacked the family members with blunt weapons while they were sleeping. There were injury marks on the face of the victim.
"We have sent the body for postmortem to know the exact cause of death," the SP said.
The police said the burglars decamped with some gold and silver ornaments. The police have registered a murder case against unidentified people.
